Quite intense black cherry colour. Bright, lifted nose of ripe red and black fruits, earthy spice - good mouthfeel, the tannins are grainy and soft, black fruits, kirsch, hints of raspberry perhaps. Good finish. Clean, balanced, well-made and with the freshness that Grenache can sometimes lack.

Producer: Domaine de Bachellery, founded in 1548, lies just to the east of Béziers, about 10 miles from the Mediterranean coast where the vines nestle alongside the other traditional crops of the Languedoc, cereals and olives which is the way it’s been since time immemorial. The man in charge here is Bernard Julien and since he started making wine here back in the late 70s this property has slowly, but inexorably, climbed the quality ladder.
